[10.3s] Whoa! [11.1s] Wowzer. [12.0s] What? [12.8s] You hear from all around you a voice say, [18.3s] it looks like the humans have brought me dinner. [22.4s] We want to dispatch of this dragon as quickly as possible [25.3s] so I should try and hit him with my magic arrow, right? [28.8s] Totally. [30.5s] Do we want to like save that [32.0s] and really surprise him with it? [33.4s] Well, sure. [35.7s] She shoots it off and it deflects off of the scales. [39.1s] What? [40.7s] I'm trying to save some of my magic for later. [43.9s] And I piss myself. [48.8s] Friends, it's been nice knowing you. [51.1s] Yeah, it's been good. [51.9s] Same here, I think we may have all just died. [53.6s] I can't wait till I get to DM a campaign [55.6s] and murder Russ immediately. [57.5s] Have you been whispering like- [58.8s] Oh, sweet nothings. [59.9s] Sweet nothings in his ear. [61.2s] Like really break him down, just, you know. [64.0s] Like, yeah, psychologically torment that fucking dragon. [68.7s] A crit 20, a match 20. [71.2s] What? [73.1s] Oh my God. [74.3s] I told you I believed in you. [76.2s] Amy, you're amazing. [77.4s] Wow. [78.2s] Thanks for believing in me, you guys. [80.1s] Can I just say that I am invisible [81.8s] and all I have done this whole time [83.4s] is stand up and get knocked down. [85.5s] I'll call you chumbalumpa. [87.4s] He has recharged his breath weapon. [90.0s] 19. [91.3s] Constitution is plus one, so that is an eight. [94.4s] Record scratch, freeze frame. [96.4s] Yeah, that's me. [97.2s] You might be wondering how I got here. [100.4s] Thea, you take 31. [105.0s] Oh no. [105.9s] Points of damage. [107.2s] Nulara, I think you're gonna shatter. [109.8s] I think so too. [111.5s] Nulara, so you take 60 damage. [114.8s] Oh my God. [116.0s] It looks like he's attempting to make an escape. [119.7s] All right, well, since I'm next to Nulara, [122.9s] I will try and stabilize Nulara. [125.3s] So that is 16. [127.1s] So she is also stabilized. [129.4s] Part of me wants to continue after the dragons. [132.8s] I feel like if we let him go now, [134.6s] we're gonna lose the trail. [135.8s] What you see in the cavern is a chute [139.5s] that descends down into the ocean, [141.8s] frigid waters of the ocean. [143.6s] There's a spell I can light the ocean on fire. [145.7s] Is there a spell you could light the ocean on fire? [147.5s] Yes. No. [148.3s] No. [149.2s] Well, hello, how are you today? [154.6s] That's great. [155.6s] Welcome to Dumbgeons and Dragons, [157.2s] a D&D fifth edition actual play podcast. [160.7s] I'm your dungeon master and co-host Russ More. [162.8s] Not with me today are Carla Johnson, [165.1s] who plays Nulara Moonbrook, [166.8s] Tom Laird, who plays Flint Firebeard, [169.2s] and my wife Amy More, who plays Thea Amastasia. [172.3s] Together, we are creating a world and a story [174.8s] for you to come along with. [176.2s] Take part in and enjoy for what it is, [178.3s] a dive into a fictional universe [180.0s] where adventure, intrigue, and excitement [182.4s] all come together and make a sweet, sweet, delicious [185.4s] Hot Pocket-style narrative podcast. [188.1s] Too much? [189.0s] Well, let's get to the reason [191.2s] we're breaking format a bit today. [193.4s] It starts with some good news and some bad news. [197.4s] The good news is you probably noticed [200.0s] you have two new episodes in your download queue from us. [203.1s] Woo-hoo! [205.4s] The bad news is the reason for those two episodes. [208.8s] This episode, episode seven, [210.5s] now titled The Lost Dice Game, [213.2s] was lost to the tech gremlins [215.2s] that decided to jack with some audio, [217.8s] making it unrecognizable as conversation. [220.6s] And I couldn't put you through that. [223.5s] It just didn't sound very good at all. [225.9s] So here's what we're gonna do instead. [227.5s] I'm gonna give you a rundown [229.0s] of the major plot points that were missed [230.9s] in this episode. [232.1s] And then we're gonna move right along to the next one. [235.4s] So let's get started. [237.2s] Fortunately, this was a bit of a decompressed period [239.6s] for our adventurers. [241.0s] Flint, Thea, and Nularaaaa [242.5s] lugged their treasures back on board the frost skimmer [244.7s] and set sail towards Luskin [246.2s] to return Makoth the Crimson [247.7s] and all the stolen wares to the Arcane Brotherhood [250.8s] in hopes of signing them on board [252.4s] to battle against the Cult of the Dragons. [254.6s] To begin, the adventurers take a long rest [257.1s] to regain much-needed HP, hit dice, and spell slots [260.9s] that were lost in their battle with Aruthatar. [263.4s] When they finish that, though, [265.1s] we resolve some of the special items [266.7s] that they used plot points for [269.0s] at the end of the dragon battle episode [272.9s] that they found when they were digging out treasure. [275.2s] Thea is now in possession [276.8s] of two functional Arrows of Dragonslaying, [279.8s] where the dragon being attacked [281.0s] must make a DC 17 Constitution saving throw [284.9s] or take an extra 6d10 piercing damage, [288.8s] half of that on a success. [290.8s] Flint has two wonderfully magical [292.9s] ice fragmentation grenades [294.5s] that have a 60-foot range and a 20-foot blast radius. [298.4s] Each creature within that radius [300.3s] must make a DC 15 Dex saving throw, [303.4s] taking 5d6 piercing damage [305.7s] plus 2d4 cold damage on a fail, [308.2s] half on a success. [310.1s] Nularaaaa spent some of her time [311.9s] after her rest with Makoth the Crimson [313.9s] to learn a new spell from one of the spell books [317.0s] found within the Arcane Brotherhood stuff. [319.8s] She learned a spell called Boomerang Quiver. [322.4s] It's a second-level transmutation [324.7s] with a casting time of one bonus action [326.9s] requiring verbal and somatic or gesturing components [330.5s] and will last through concentration up to one hour. [334.2s] When Nularaaaa casts this spell on a quiver, [336.4s] any Arrows removed from that quiver [338.3s] that do not find their target [339.8s] return to the quiver by the beginning of the next turn. [343.2s] During this training montage [344.5s] that Nularaaaa had with Makoth, [345.9s] Makoth mentions that she senses [347.9s] Nularaaaa has exceptional skill [350.2s] in more ways than she knows, [352.5s] to which Nularaaaa said, [354.8s] "'Well, thank you.'" [356.2s] And that's where it was left. [358.6s] After looking at their goodies, [360.0s] Flint, Thea, and Nularaaaa head down to the galley [362.5s] where there are some of the shipmates [364.6s] playing a dice game. [365.8s] And I'll let you know, [366.8s] the technical difficulties might have saved you [369.2s] from having to listen to me [370.2s] try to describe a dice game over Skype [373.0s] and everyone just not do well at it. [376.3s] Long story short, they lost some money [378.4s] and went to have some grog. [380.2s] Flint challenged a half-orc named Baran [382.8s] to an arm wrestle and beat him handily many times. [387.1s] Needless to say, Baran was quite embarrassed [389.1s] but used this opportunity to approach Flint [391.9s] and ask for assistance with what he describes [395.0s] as a cult problem in his hometown of Little Rock. [398.7s] Baran tells Flint that he and his sister Sasha [401.5s] escaped Little Rock and describes wearers of purple [404.3s] having come into his town [405.9s] and terrorizing the people in Little Rock [408.0s] for seemingly no other reason than to cause havoc. [411.0s] Flint tells Baran that he will have to discuss [413.3s] with Thea and Nularaaaa, [415.0s] but this is likely something [416.2s] that they'll be able to help out with. [418.1s] Nularaaaa is approached again by Makoth in the galley [420.7s] and taken aside. [422.1s] Makoth warns Nularaaaa that Luskin is a very prejudicial [425.9s] and racially charged city. [427.9s] And while Thea and Flint will likely be able to pass [431.0s] about the docks of Luskin with little issue, [433.4s] they might not be as welcomed in the city. [436.3s] Makoth suggests that Nularaaaa enters Luskin with her alone [439.4s] to return the stolen goods and sway the leaders [442.0s] of the Arcane Brotherhood to their cause. [444.9s] Thea, Flint and Nularaaaa all come together [446.9s] to discuss Baran and Sasha's problems [449.1s] as well as Makoth's concerns [450.5s] about Thea and Flint entering Luskin [452.8s] to meet with the Arcane Brotherhood. [454.8s] After much debate about splitting the party, [457.0s] they decide to tell Makoth [458.6s] that she must do what she can to convince the Brotherhood [461.3s] to fight against the Cult of the Dragon [463.2s] while the three of them go off to Little Rock [465.7s] and help the people there. [467.5s] When they return, they will meet with Makoth [469.7s] and any other representatives of the Arcane Brotherhood [472.2s] and discuss options further if needed. [474.8s] Once they arrive in Luskin, [476.0s] the three send Makoth through the gates of Luskin [478.3s] and head off with Baran and Sasha [480.4s] after renting a carriage of horses. [482.5s] Little Rock is located approximately halfway [484.7s] between Luskin and Mirabar [486.7s] and they expect to arrive within one to two days. [489.9s] On the road, the adventurers come across a band of dwarves [492.6s] who appear to have taken a wear of purple [494.6s] with the Cult of Dragons prisoner. [496.5s] After some negotiation and payment to the dwarves, [499.5s] they question this woman [501.1s] who they find out is named Chila Flagsteel. [504.0s] They learn that she got a little too greedy [505.8s] while leading a group of cultists [507.2s] that was terrorizing the dwarves. [509.2s] Some super tough negotiations and banter happens [512.3s] and the adventurers learn of a lead from Chila. [515.0s] They learn that one of the worm-speakers, [516.7s] Nerenvain, has gone missing from the cult [518.6s] and is heard to have fortified a stronghold [520.6s] in the Misty Forest. [522.1s] He may even be trying to defect from the Cult of the Dragon, [524.8s] but who's to say either way [527.0s] until you talk to someone, right? [529.4s] As the adventurers go to hand Chila back over, [531.8s] the dwarves are struck by a large boulder [533.8s] and the adventurers turn to see four ogres [535.9s] charging towards them. [537.4s] The dwarves turn tail and run, [539.1s] but the adventurers charge to fight the ogres. [541.7s] That's the end of the episode. [543.2s] Quite a lot covered there. [544.8s] Thanks for listening through this one. [546.8s] There is another episode right away [548.5s] so you can have the full adventure experience [550.9s] with all four of us, [552.0s] but there was just too much that was touched on [555.2s] to just avoid it altogether. [557.4s] You can keep those reviews coming in. [558.7s] We love hearing what you think about the show. [560.5s] It really does mean a whole lot to us [562.0s] when you tell us what you think. [563.8s] You can head over to iTunes [565.0s] and leave your review and rating. [566.8s] The ratings are great, [568.1s] but the reviews along with them [569.4s] help a little bit more, I think, [571.6s] because it tells someone who's cruising around [573.2s] looking for a podcast to listen to [574.7s] that this one may be worth their time. [577.3s] You can also tell your friends, family, [579.2s] or your next door neighbor to visit DumbDragons.com.
